Doodles Senior Session

 Doodle is a basketball player at Los Lunas High School with many medals to show for her talent. Her mom and I had been planning this session for a few months and they knew that they wanted to feature her basketball life and her native life. She is wearing her native garb and heirloom Isleta Pueblo jewelry along with her medals, rings and letterman for basketball.

I love the colors of this session. The orange and yellows in the blanket mix with the scenery perfectly. I really love my job when I get to create beautiful works of art like these for a family. They turned out so stunning. Take a look.

A common question with senior photos is "How many clothing changes can I have?" My answer is "As many as you want, but remember that we only have an hour for pictures and time is precious when doing a sunset session. We could run out of light taking time to change instead of adding background changes. If you want the same background and pose in all the photos, then changing your clothes is the only way to get variety. But that's not my goal. My goal is different settings with different backgrounds  and different poses to add interest, and clothes stay mostly the same." 

You can see that there are three looks. But she only changed once. My suggestion is always to dress in layers and remove items as we progress through the session. She wore her native dress first because that was the most important and because the second look could be changed easily by removing the jacket and medals. Scarves, jackets and other accessories can really change the look of a photograph and are something small and easy to carry and easy to remove for new looks. Changing clothes many times can leave your session looking disjointed and eclectic. Minimize and coordinate as much as possible so that your photos can have a cohesive look like these. And don't forget that we will move through a session with various locations so the background will change. This isn't a stagnant studio where changing clothes is your only option for different looks.
